Are Italians white? I thought they were. Are they?

I thought they were white until, some girl asked me if I knew Leonardo Dicaprio from the Titanic, and I said "oh yeah, isnt he that one Italian guy from the Titanic?" and she said "yeah only he's not Italian, he's white"
